‘armless with a break or 2

social and community commentThis was not a planned post as I am unable to keystroke for any length this evening.

My keenness to write what I had planned  has been tempered by an accident I have been involved in. Which means I have done “spiffingly” well to have done any keystrokes over the past week. Though after reading it through I can see I have, and strictly against hospital orders. I think it is probably a bit self indulgent and not at all what I intend this blog to be; but what the heck. As I intend this blog to be informative I thought I would include a video you might find amusing so follw the link to the video of the office cat further down in the text. I have also included something about the type of injury I have

Excuse me as I brush off the rust from my shirt as I write this but I have been wandering around with a cracked arm for 2 weeks. There are  fractures to Radius and Ulna . Fortunately the bones were not displaced so no surgery needed.  Yes it is a bit sore . This has also required me to get some secretarial support (male) from the local Cat vet to load the printer for me

Here is the  first cast that was applied to my arm yesterday (Monday) at the Royal North Shore Hospital. What a great bunch of nurses and doctors they were who attended to me .

first cast

This has also required me to get some secretarial support (male) from the local Cat vet to load the printer for me Follow this link for an example of just how helpful he has been.

How did all this happen?

Well we have to go back 2 weeks (3 Saturdays ago) when in Victoria street in “semi filthy” Darlinghurst, my old haunt, I decided to make a visit to the Infinity Bakery to indulge in some fresh croissants and some hot yummy sourdough bread.

I was just waiting between parked cars opposite the Tropicana cafe for a break in the traffic. I saw a 5 ton truck driving along as they do, when I suddenly realised  when just a few metres awaythis bugger was veering towards me. Was this just some mindless prank to give me a fright?

Next thing I raised my arms  to protect my noggin (head).  I failed to avoid the truck’s mirror which collided with my arm. Oooch Ouch.

I was spun round into a parked car.  Wow that hurt. Boy was I lucky. Those of you who know me will know in late December I had eye surgery so that must have caused me to raise my arm.

He didn’t immediately stop but continued driving. 5 minutes later someone who said he was a passenger came  back and as I was sitting in the kerb asked me  if I was okay. Then he said ( Error 1) something  like “oh it’s just a graze you’re okay”

This lunatic did not make me at all a happy chappy at all.  Then  (Error 2) said he was in the passenger seat and saw everything and that I had stepped in front of the van. Oh was I super unhappy now.  I am afraid I did resort to using a few expletives and it crossed my mind that I might resort to using some other uninjured part of myself to emphasise just how irritated I was with his lack of consideration.  He had, I’m afraid started to be a smartie. Oh how I used to love crunching smarties — the sugar coated chocolate buttons of course. To get things on a proper understanding I decided to call up the local constabulary    He ran back to wherever the van  came back with his mate and we waited for the Bill.  He then told them he was the driver but just didn’t have his licence with him this morning. It was a hire van by the way ! Oh here we go I thought . I stepped forward and the Police were none to pleased with my approach to negotiations.

This meant at the time I thought the boys in blue were being a bit unpleasant to me. I do mean boys (my son is a boy and he is almost 26). So after giving my statement I  complained to the young Officer who interviewed me I thought he (Policeman) was being a tad fierce with me.  He was taken aback a bit  but t he handled my criticism in an exemplary way and explained why he may have appeared like that. “It is just the area Kings Cross and they do get a lot of situations that can blow up”.  After all he didn’t know me from a bar of soap. I did feel rather remorseful after he explained why he and his colleagues can appear like that.  We had a good chat  about what he wants to do with his career. The AFP  it seems.

Anyhow, he turned out to be a really nice chap as did his colleague today when I had to call and report  my arm had actually been broken in 2 places.

Me being smart, I decided to avoid St Vincents  being full of scrappers from  robust night at Kings Cross and thought I would go to Royal North Shore Emergency. After over 4 hours they found nothing wrong save for a load of bruising and swelling.  So off home I went my friend Pamela driving the little BM. As time has passed by the arm got progressively more dis-comfortable ( my new word).  Dear Mother you left this earth far to soon as there are times I still need to call on you.

So today they changed the cast for this hi tech super version and I am feeling particularly proud of the fact that I am being nominated for the annual Clint Eastwood Award.

new cast new cast

So all in all, well done cops, well done Royal North Shore Hospital, well done Nicola Roxon and Carmel Tebbutt.

In the Next Post or two i really hope to write  something about the stupidity of   property law involving  rights of tenency and family law in  defacto matter. Interesting stuff that will also go some way to counter a number of ‘curious’ falsehoods that have been published  over recent months and what you can do about it.

There will be More on Eric Clapton and Crossroads 2007. The review on the Jonny Lang CDs, Afro Beat and something on Football . To bad Torres my favourite player has gone to my least favourite club.

Queen Mary and the French Foreign Legion

cookingThe No Tea Bag Zone or how to brew the Macdonald perfect cup of tea.

N.B. Look for the  red star in this for a track of politically inspired music.

Yes, you can brew a great slow-but-fast cup of tea without resorting to a tea bag, which is full of tea dust anyway.

So what we want to do is to brew a great cuppa in the morning or any time we are moving fast.

Many years ago 1965/66 (a time of my mixed up youth) I was told this simple process by a British cook in  the French Foreign Legion.

The need was for a good cup of refreshing tea while stuck in the sand dunes somewhere in North Africa. Especially on a bitterly cold desert night or equally revitalising in the heat of the day, with the added benefit of washing the gritty sand from the teeth while in hiding from the local resistance.

What you need

A good leaf tea. Yes, leaf tea is a quick as tea bags if you follow the method. Remember, this is a “no tea bag and slow food for fast people Zone”.

My favourite is Queen Mary tea.

Twinnings Queen Mary TeaThis used to be widely available from Twining’s until they discontinued it in favour of cost reduction and increased profit and so ended 300 years of quality.

All is not lost, however, with help from the Canberra Tea Centre you can still get the blend. Just pop along there ask for Casey and she will be happy to help you.

Okay those from the other side of the universe in [Sydney], London, Rome , Paris or New York, here is the recipe for Queen Mary so you can blend your own. In equal amounts you need:

  • Scottish Breakfast Tea
  • Kandy from Sri Lanka
  • Sungma a Darjeeling tea

You will need a good air tight storage tin to keep the tea dry.  You can get something like this:

Queen Mary tea tin

Or something like mine:

Marquis of Queensberry tea tin Marquis of Queensberry tea tin
marcella tea tin

Next you need sugar — but not just any old sugar. We must have French in keeping with the origins of this brew.

sugar cubes

La  Perruche sugar lumps You will find these quite irregular in shape and can be obtained from any good delicatessen Yes really this is the secret to making a slow infusion brew fast and it brings a smoothness to the tea notes.  You can choose either white or brown lumps depending what you

find your taste to be. Since variety is the spice of life have a pack of either in your kitchen. But to be authentic it must be La Perruche.

Okay let’s brew.

A kettle with water. Not more water than you need — no need to waste. Who cares if it is absolutely fresh after all it would have been made from what was available from legionnaires canvass or later aluminum water bottles. Just so long it isn’t green.

A pot should be stoneware china or as our cook had, enamel.  Ideally it has always been said you need to warm the pot to delay heat loss. I have never been convinced of this and as we are in a rush we wont bother. We don’t need to waste water either in the desert with Beau Geste or where water is a scarce commodity and we need to get moving.

We then need the tea.

3 teaspoons for the pot of usual size. You may ask why not one per person and one for the pot? The simple answer is no. You will now add the special ingredient sugar. This is the catalyst to brew quickly and efficiently Shock horror to all the purists I know but it saves on the amount of tea we use and saves time in the morning

Add 1 lump of the sugar to the post or if you have no lumps use half a teaspoon of raw sugar. Unlike the La Perruche, normal white sugar is simply not delicate enough for tea.

Now pour the water right to the top because you are bound to want more than one cup each.

The sugar now dilates the membranes of the tea leaves and speeds up the brew and extracts a superior flavour fast. However a good tea still needs (tea bags included) time to brew. This is usually between 4-6 mins. Here you can reduce the time to 3-4 mins  Here is the time  advantage over a tea bag where the process has to be repeated

In the morning this gives you time for to clean your teeth, wash under the armpits, feed the cats, check your email, iron a shirt and then time to pour.

tea tray

Oh milk goes in first.  If you do it last it will have a cloudy appearance and won’t be so smooth. You can use a tea strainer but you will not be able to read the leaves to check if you are going to have a good day or if you ought to postpone it  due to lack of interest and have another cuppa. If you use tea bags you have to repeat the process which doubles up the time and reduces the quality. What quality?

About the milk. I recommend organic and it doesn’t have to be full cream. Having recently lived in Canberra I had a wholesale account at Capital Milk. You could  perhaps via twitter organize some friends into a small Co Op buying group if you don’t need a large quantity yourself. I was buying for a family of 4 so the savings were substantial. The people at the back door of the dairy in Fyshwick were always very helpful. If you like full cream, though not organic Canberra Gold is amazing for an illicit swig while no-one is looking.  A bad habit I have.

If you are a traditionalist about tea, not in a hurry and not cowering behind some sand dune hiding as an uninvited guest from some very annoyed Bedouin or Tuarege freedom fighter  you could go here.

politics Had the French remained in North Africa we may not have music from the resistance  like the band Tinariwen who played at the opening concert at 2010 World Cup. Many members of this band spent time as refugees in Libya

cookingBiscuits

By  mid morning you might want a biscuit or two for dunking. I don’t recommend biscuits at breakfast, but tea is great with a bowl of porridge. Actually I don’t recommend bickies at all if you are carrying too much pudding round the waist but what the heck let’s imagine we are in a perfect world

So what biscuit?

This pie chart may help you decide if you want to go with the minority or the majority your choice of biscuit

dunking data

I recommend in the afternoon a good old Ginger Nut after a hard day’s work or a lift mid afternoon.

Mid morning try rich tea. Nice and light.

stupid

[Aren’t pie charts great? You can share all kinds of things with the world – I’ve even seen people post them  too show how much time they spend skiving off work … true]

My X of over 5 years and while we were living together blogged (I wasn’t to know she had a blog) such a pie chart in June 2010 boasting of her weekly time spent flirting with the landscape gardener and with whom according to their twitter had commenced an affair in May duh

Now that’s pretty stupid…….

Okay Happy brewing and I confess I have never ever written a recipe or instructions so this is going to be an interesting journey over the hill for me.  I have a great Bolognese recipe and a Maggie Beer inspired sweet to share sometime soon

Hope you enjoy or had a laugh or two

Mango box dispute – dinosaur attacks cat

catsIn October I went to the pet shop to get some food for my 2 Cats Roger a Norwegian Forest Cat and Emma  a lilac Burmese.  Roger by the way rules my world and Emma rules his so you have the dynamic of the pecking order in my family. Which reminds me of the chickens I had to sadly leave behind in Canberra in September last. I had brought up as chicks in November 2009. Brownie and Hopperty plus 4 others. Hopperty was so called because she has a deformed foot but a lovely bird just the same though my partner of the time was not so keen. Gee I even had them in a cat box on a table beside my pillow in the first 2 weeks as it was a bit cold to put them outside. My partner of the time who curiously and sadly has a very angry outlook on life was away on holiday so I was able to secretly get away with that. But I digress so more about that in another post.

So there I am in the pet shop. It just so happened I had been thinking about the purchase of a marmalade cat for some time. I have a policy [now] of only getting “rescue cats” Well I find myself drawn to those that have been abandoned like the 2 aforementioned Emma and Roger Actually I recorded Roger with as Rojer on his papers but with spell checker you always get the sqwiggily red line so I have given in to Roger.

So there I am still in the pet shop and blow me down there in the very box I had found Emma in 5 years before was Tommy.

Thomas - on the look out for dinosaurs

Thomas – on the look out for dinosaurs

But first there is a bit before my arrival.

This is what happened.

I was at a loose end one afternoon (I was having 3 times weekly medical centre and hospital appointments ) So this time after an appointment and feeling a bit down I thought I would take a drive to the pet shop miles away and just to see if they had a Ginger Tom. There is actually a Pet shop or two within walking distance.  I didn’t think I  was really serious about “the search” just some romantic notion about a marmalade cat which I have always been partial to since being introduced not so long ago to the illustrations and story of  Orlando.

So I get there.

Well blow be down, there he was. He had a label that said “Ginge”  but let me assure you he told me his name was Thomas aka Tom aka Tommy.  He had been there 3 weeks. His owner had died of cancer and had instructed in her will that in the event of her death he be as the Vet put it “euthanased” …Well how could I not take him home with me? So a few well placed calls and a bit of manipulation I cajoled my friend to come look see. It just so happened I had the Cat basket with me. So Tommy, now sometimes called Tom Kitten on good day, joined the gang. I say gang because now he also goes by the name “bad cat”.

Well on the day illustrated I had found the dinosaur that my boy Robbie had made for me when (he says in year 2) which makes it about 1991.

Hungry dinosaur on the look out for cat

Hungry dinosaur on the look out for cat

As you can see cat and dinosaur had a coming together, with the dinosaur coming out on top. Umm bad dinasour meets bad cat.

Dinosaur attacks cat

Dinosaur attacks cat

Next time: my chickens and some tips about how to look after them; Roger and Emma and how cats can connect you with your neighbourhood (our neighbourhood really is cat paradise, every other house seems to have one); and my rabbits, also sadly left behind in Canberra.

Yes indeed, old Macdonald’s Farm.

Crossroads

musicIn the first post I mentioned that I had recently been lucky to find a blues artist Jonny Lang.

He is featured for one title on the second disk of the first Eric Clapton Crossroads Guitar Festival Concert DVD recorded in 2004.

While Jonny Lang is only shown performing one item I think you will agree he is, and was then, an amazing talent. At the age of 16 in 97 he recorded this version of Lie To Me

If you get to see any of the 3 Crossroads Concerts, one of the great things about Blues Music is that unlike many other genres it covers the whole spectrum of generations no ages no gender or race barriers. You will find artists ranging from the likes of BB King — now in his 80s, or in their 70s like Buddy Guy — through to artists like Steve Vai (check him out, his musical origins will blow your mind really) and ZZ Top, Jimmie Vaughn and John Mayer.

On this disk Jonny Lang performsGive me up again.

It is  perfect for all who have found themselves locked in an emotionally and psychologically  abusive relationship. Yes it does happen to men and a recent experience has given me an understanding of a few of the reasons that economically disadvantaged [mainly women in context of relationships] stick in a marginalising and exploitive home environment.

Talking about women who are isolated in such circumstances get in touch with Emilys List. You will find them supportive and yes they are political but women did not achive the right to vote without being political. Though I’m just a bloke a group of these womwen were especially helpful to me. Briefly Emilys list believe women deserve equality in politics, business, the community sector and the home. This is because equality is a fundamental human right that should be enjoyed by all.

To the recording. This is a terrific track and illustrates the full range of talent Jonny Lang has.Crossroads Guitar Festival 2004 DVDOf course we hear from Eric Clapton and ’nuff said. John Mayer performs tremendously displaying a soul feel with City Love.

The concert is finished off with the unlikely ZZ Top and it’s great. In between you can hear the blues roots through Buddy Guy, Hubert Tomlin — dudes just a tad older than me — alongside EC, Robert Cray and Jimmie Vaughan. Just to remind us what a talent was lost with his brother.

Just a note my enthusiasm may cause me to hurry with a posting so forgive me as I cant spell so good. You got it I can’t play scrabble either. Like I said before I “aint no” Academic, just a working class boy with a bit of education. I was indeed fortunate to have a some special people who helped through a lot of challenges in my early life. Check out Tricky’s Product of the Environment — a great one for sociologists and criminologists.

On the subject of music I was reminded today from a tweet by Billy Bragg about the 100 Club Oxford Street It is where I first saw Paul Rutherford play and another artist Jerome Arnold who was a  terrific bass player in the Paul Butterfield Blues Band who I also saw there. Perhaps my dear boys from Riverside might know where my copies of The Paul Butterfield Blues Band (1965) and The Original Lost Elektra Sessions are today. I think they were “borrowed” in 1976 …

If you wanna hear The PB band check this out. It is live from a bootleg and so it aint legal and has a long intro so stay with it.

In my next music post I’ll let you know about  a couple of Jonny Lang CDS I now have. For the lovers of Afro beat, stay tuned  — there will be stuff about that and I may even get to cover Lou Rawls and Gospel. I am keen to share my Gold. Which reminds me of Harry Gold and his pieces of 8. Perhaps next time? Maybe my life as a DJ doing mixes and Avant Garde stuff way before the likes of Carl Cox and Fat Boy Slim. Might even get to tell you about my link to Boney M.

So more music review soon. Hope you enjoy the ride Davie.

Welcome to [an] escalator over the hill.

books, reading and poetryI had been very critical of a great many of the personal blogs I read.

As an inactive bystander I thought I should have a go as I felt I had much to share and learn. It’s easy to criticise from the sidelines, which I had previously done

It appeared to me many blogs are written for the sole purpose of enabling the writer to have their moment of fame which seems harmless enough. However to me they often appeared when written without theme to be pure Nihilism in other words trivia. It would be correct for you to say my view was arrogant and on reflection I agree I think it was. Though there are those that do indulge in pure me-ism.

The challenge I faced originally was very personal as I saw how one person was using the conduit for self aggrandisement …that’s okay but not when it was at the expense of others, including  me, their children,  siblings and work colleagues etc . I had found myself on the end of blogging that was as I read it clearly intended to denigrate me. They were letting fly with  their inner rage at life.

I let this get a tad in the way of what my main purpose was, however since they were so public in their tweets, blog, and as I’m aware certain conversations I will from time to time counter her nonsense. You see I to have an ego and  believe I am entitled to re discover my sense of worth.

My hope is that [an] escalator over the hill will be that of an “In-former” or perhaps even a “share former” I thought that many blogs were narcissistic and “Me-former”. After blogging for a few weeks I can see that my harsh cynicism perhaps clouded my view of all the fantastic contributions out there in the “great unwashed”  By its very nature I recognise now that I too ran the risk of writing “all about me”.

What I am trying to do in my blog is to tie anything I do write about the world, perhaps a daft recipe or write something that has happened in my life while putting it in to ‘a’ context of a wider event or issue.

I received some criticism about some of my writing.  This was made in particular to my references to some personal experiences I have had recently that  tied into comments I made in a couple of posts .  The critique was fair and balanced.

I want this to blog is to be informative without being heavy.  I intend to be provocative. There is no faint heart here and you notice I do not to write anonymously. So I will not hide within the safety of anonymity

Why [an] escalator over the hill?

Please bear with me as I share with you something taken from American Native Law.

Two people [you and me] are standing opposite sides of a hill It might be tall hill or it could be small it doesn’t matter. We can be of any origin looking skywards to see a cloud; the same cloud.  Though it is the same cloud we see because of where we stand we see it differently. Yet it is the same.

The lesson is we all have our view and we have our truth but because we can see something that is the same it doesn’t follow we will not see it differently.

[an] escalator over the hill is about a journey I have well-traveled and a one that continues on.

The picture of the escalator over the hill is metaphoric It has been created quite deliberately and passes through a dense over growth of an overhanging forest.

The hill can be an obstruction to seeing the other view and it maybe a ride one does not want to take. The density of the forest may stop us from seeing the light of other ideas. It is a tunnel. The escalator is intended to make the passage less challenging swifter and enjoyable

My hope is that [an] escalator over the hill will provide the ticket to quickly see another concept, another point of view and to be open to a richness of experience that may just lie over the other side.

I want [an] escalator over the hill to challenge and provoke thinking and I invite other views.

There is always more learning and unlearning to be done. There is much understanding and tolerance and compassion to be embraced if we are to indeed make the world a better place. I hope I am able to engage and not disengage and make my contribution to that better place.

At first [an] escalator over the hill will be essentially built around and about me and how I see the cloud at this time, in my time

Whether we aspire to alternative political thought or appreciate our music but not those of others, “like our stuff but not theirs” and believe we have all the answers we will find the tentacles of narcissism and self-importance slowly start to strangle all that can make this world a much better place.

I do not want write anything behind a veil of anonymity or anything that vilifies any individual unfairly or knowingly discredits because it is a lie without affording any person the opportunity of reply.

This last point is something that is very important to me and one I have suffered egregiously several times very recently.  Anything I write is open for critique. I challenge you to do so, but it wont be a faint-hearted debate. Be sure you know your ground.

The only caveat I have is that I will not allow any racial or gender vilification.

social and community commentWhat I want is:

to share the music from my journey including the earliest times when I have my first recollection of my introduction to music on a 78 disk Davy Crockett which must have been in 1956.”phew” Now that is one  long time ago 🙂

To explore what music I like, what I don’t and why

I want to share contemporary thinking and reading

I want to give some political thought and some social commentary about those ills I see in our society and learn better of those I don’t even know of yet.

I am not an academic. I am just an ordinary working class bloke.  So  what I write will be tied to real life experiences and not hinged around some intellectual mumbo jumbo that no one really understands. I typically have in mind some economists, political leaders, sociologists and criminologists.

I will write [personally] about my stuff that I hope will make you smile from time to time. I will write about the things kept in my “happy box”

Happy Box you may ask?

For some years and inspired by the ABC program Collectors I embarked on a project to locate items from my childhood. Ebay has been fantastic for this I am when I have too much money obsessed 🙂 These are items  that brought me much happiness which includes books, boys annuals, comics, toy cars  a picture of my first and only dog, Bruin and much more. Memories of time spent in the National Childrens Home Harpenden (NCH).

NCH Deakin House Bathroom

The memorabilia including toys from the 50s and 60s. In this later part of the journey I am mindful of how it was  inspired by Terry Bedford  the recent Director of the BBC series Robin Hood for whom I often baby sat his daughter Katie.

I will write sometimes about my son, my passion for the World game (especially Millwall, Celtic and Scottish Football) Motorcycle racing, old toys I have been collecting, books I read, my CATS and “slow food 4 fast people”.

From time to time I will include Food and cooking which is something I have recently re discovered after almost 5 years of being discouraged from venturing near the stove. My simple approach to cooking was not encouraged in a household focused on appearances and “poshness” in food.

While I am no Jamie Oliver, Maggie Bear or Rick Stein (whom I am told I sound quite like) I have re discovered I am quite good at it; cooking that is :-).

I am inspired to write by my son a,“my” old lads [on Facebook] in the UK from the youth centre Riverside I ran in London over 30 years ago. One David Jeff’s is really driving me forward to write. Many of these boys now well and truly men had a very different taste in music to that of mine and have different political views.  They would be surprised at my diversity of  my music taste today. We shall see.

However at 16 I recall the influence of a boy a couple of years older at Eltham Green who introduced me to Tamla Motown, Marvin Gaye The Temptations and Smokey Robinson. As such he was probably the biggest single influence on my contemporary taste in music.

The time also collided with James Browns first tour of the UK. I was indeed very fortunate to be taken to see JB in Sydney in 2006 by a friend of the time.

Today I am blessed with a great collection Contemporary and of Classical music and for the latter I have to thank my Father, his Father and my dear sister. I have a great passion for motorcycles and this is something given to me again by my Father and brother.

social and community commentThose who know me well will know of my keen interest in Motor Sport mainly in the 60s and  this I believe stems from my first Motor Racing book received for my 8th birthday.

“an escalator over the hill” will be a vehicle to develop and maintain news contact with those children some of the “forgotten ones” who were brought up with me in the National Children’s Home Harpenden (NCH).

motorcycleWe are spread across the globe From New York to Australia. We range from lawyers to even one who went on to be the official historian of probably one of the worlds largest 1% Motorcycle clubs.

This experience gave me (gave us all) a sense of comradeship, community and perhaps equipped me with the resilience to handle the challenges of life’s experiences past and present.

Key to my life was  my house Mother Sister Eva Brooker who was a most lovely person and who’s picture (see about me) I have with me always and who sadly I was not able to find before her passing.

Me on the lawn Childrens Home

Having obtained my home records was an incredible part of my journey of discovery and though I was too late to find Sister Eva I thank David Hill for pointing me in the right direction to finding the first book end of my life.

music

It struck me Christmas 2010 after having been in a suppressive and culture-less personal environment for the past few years I discovered something new  while watching one of Eric Clapton’s Crossroads DVDs. It was the second disk of which had remained unseen since bought it new in 2007. Here I found a blues artist amongst many of the greats; a person I consider to be a most remarkable talent “Johnny Lang”

On seeing this musician and singer (wow what a voice and guitar) along with John Mayer I was bursting to tell my friends and anyone who cared to listen about [my] find. This singularly was the key driver, the “tipping point” that brought me to blog. After Years away I decided I should start up again in March 2022

social and community comment

In 2010 I learned of the death of my comrade friend and outstanding trombonist Paul Rutherford a Communist who had died a couple of years back. Paul had introduced me to ISKRA and the Mike Westbrook band exponents the Avant-garde in music or “New Jazz”.  The band recorded a 3 record box set of New Jazz. It was called Escalator over the Hill. I still have this set today…and it is what I chose to call me blog

From time to time in the annuls of this journal I will mention others who have inspired and continue to inspire me.  There will people from all walks of life include my Girls and boys  from the South East End, Riverside, Pepys Estate,

The NCH,

my Friends from Kings Cross Sydney including Johnny Lewis and Tony Mundine, my Coffee mates at Toby’s Cafe in Wooloomooloo and some of my great friends in Canberra including Mark, Carolyne and Eva who were a tremendous help in my crisis of  2010.

Puting one on Tony Mundine 🙂

So this is a medium including Face book and twitter where I hope to share my narrative and simple “ladish” stuff with you.

About the picture again:  the escalator is a metaphor of a life opening with greater ease to new ideas that nestle just over the hill. The trees are representative of shadows cast that may keep our minds from light and in perpetual darkness.

Get on board.  I do hope you will enjoy “an escalator over the hill”
